WHAT MAKES A BUNDABERG GINGER BEER SO SPECIAL?

When you crack open a bottle of Bundaberg Ginger Beer, you’re tasting more than just a refreshing beverage – you’re tasting decades of dedication and innovation. Success didn’t just happen by chance, and it certainly didn’t come overnight. Every golden stubby is the result of years spent perfecting the art of brewing real Australian ginger: from growing the ideal ginger, mastering the brewing process, ensuring the right bottles, and paying attention to every detail in between. Like we say, ‘if it’s worth brewing, it’s worth brewing well’.

Everything starts with the ginger and here’s a little insider tip – we use only the finest ginger available. No fake flavours, no additives, just real Australian grown ginger. That is the reason why if you tip your Bundaberg Ginger Beer upside down in the light, you’ll spot tiny ginger granules swirling about – proof it’s the real deal.

Our ginger isn’t just any ginger, it’s genuine Queensland ginger. Australia’s climate is spot on for ginger crops: rich red soil, sprawling fields, sunny skies, and just the right balance of sunshine. All these factors combine to create the perfect environment for growing the best possible crop to go into our signature brew.

But we don’t grow all this ginger alone. Back when our Founder and Master Brewer, Cliff Fleming, kicked things off with Bundaberg Brewed Drinks, he knew he’d need help to keep the ginger flowing, which is why we work closely with local Aussie farmers. These families are the backbone of our business, putting in the hard yards every season to grow the best ginger alongside our team. Even now, they handpick each crop, trim the stems, and wash the ginger right in the fields.

Once the ginger’s in, our processing team gets stuck into cleaning and peeling every crop, ready for dehydration. And yes – every single bit gets dehydrated. This involves baking the ginger for up to 28 hours, which shrinks the weight of the crop by nearly 90%. All that concentrated ginger goes straight back into the Ginger Beer you know and love, which we brew for up to three days to lock in that true blue Bundy flavour. After brewing, it’s bottled, packed, and shipped across Australia and beyond, keeping Bundaberg Ginger Beer fans everywhere happy.

Bringing our Ginger Beer to life is no small feat. But like the old saying goes, good things come to those who wait.
