(Y)our best cocktails of 2017 – Mules
The classic Moscow Mule made a comeback this year! The combination of Vodka, Ginger Beer and Lime is one that is hard to beat. That is, until these creative recipes came about. If you’re not into the fruity twist, or prefer something simple you can always get started with the classic Moscow Mule – there’s even a Kentucky (Bourbon), English (Gin), Mexican (Tequila) and Irish (Whisky) version you can try.
Moscow Mule
Serves: 1 drink
Ingredients
- 1.5oz Vodka
- Bundaberg Ginger Beer
- 1oz Lime juice
- 0.5oz sugar syrup
- 2 x small pieces of ginger
- Lime to garnish
Instructions
- Muddle ginger and combine remaining ingredients into shaker
- Shake, then strain into a copper mug and top with Bundaberg Ginger Beer
- Add ice and garnish with a lime wedge
- Enjoy your drink
Cranberry Apple Moscow Mule Punch
Serves: 1 jug/ pitcher
Ingredients
- 2 cups vodka
- 1 cup cranberry apple juice
- ¼ cup fresh squeezed lime juice
- 2 (750 mL) bottles of Ginger Beer
- ½ cup fresh cranberries
- ½ cup apples (diced)
Instructions
- Add the vodka, cranberry apple juice, lime juice and ginger beer to a large pitcher. Add the fresh cranberries and apples.
- Add ice to serve immediately, or chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Pineapple and Cilantro Moscow Mules
Serves: 1 drink
Ingredients
- 6 cilantro (coriander) leaves
- ice
- 2oz vodka
- 2.5oz pineapple puree
- 0.5oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 3-5oz Bundaberg Ginger Beer
Instructions
- Gently muddle the cilantro leaves in a rocks glass to release their oils. Add ice to the top. Pour the vodka over the ice followed by the pineapple puree, lime juice, and top with ginger beer. Stir and serve.
Notes
To make pineapple puree simply blend pineapple chunks in the blender until smooth. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use. If you like sweeter drinks add a tablespoon of agave to the drink.

Pineapple Moscow Mule

Serves: 1 drink
Ingredients
- 2oz vodka
- 1oz fresh lime juice*
- 2oz pineapple juice
- 4oz Bundaberg Ginger Beer
- ice, for serving
- fresh pineapple slice, for garnish
- fresh lime slices, for garnish
- fresh mint leaves, for garnish
Instructions
- Add the vodka, lime juice, and pineapple juice to a Moscow Mule mug and stir to combine. Stir in the ginger beer and fill the cup with ice. Garnish with a slice of fresh pineapple, a slice of lime, and a sprig of fresh mint if using. Serve immediately.
Recipe Notes
*0.5oz bottled/concentrated lime juice can be subbed for the fresh lime juice.
To make a mocktail/non-alchoholic version of this drink, omit the vodka.
Strawberry Lime Moscow Mule

Serves: 1 drink
Ingredients
- 1 half lime juiced
- 5 strawberries
- 2oz vodka
- 4-6oz Bundaberg Ginger Beer
- Fresh thyme sprigs (optional)
Instructions
- Muddle strawberries and lime juice together in a copper mug. Add vodka and ice to fill and top off with ginger beer. Enjoy!
Mexican Mule

Serves: 1 drink
Ingredients
- 2oz Tequila
- Bundaberg Ginger Beer
- 1oz Lime juice
- 0.5oz sugar syrup
- 2 x small pieces of ginger
- 1 x lime wedge to garnish
Instructions
- Muddle ginger and combine remaining ingredients into a shaker. Shake, then strain into a copper mug and top with Bundaberg Ginger Beer. Add crushed ice and a lime wedge to garnish. Enjoy your drink!
Sweet London Mule

Serves: 2 drinks
Ingredients
- 2 lime wedges
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1oz lime juice fresh squeezed
- 2oz gin
- 12oz Ginger Beer
Instructions
- Take a rocks glass, or glass of your choice and run a lime wedge around the rim. Pour the sugar onto a plate and roll the rim of the glass in the sugar so it sticks.
- Carefully add ice to the glass, add half of the lime juice, gin and ginger beer, stir to combine. Repeat with the other glass, garnish with the lime wedge.
Life is a Peach Moscow Mule

Serves: 1 drink
Ingredients
- 1 lime
- 1/2 Ginger Beer
- 1 peach
- 1 mint leaf
- 2oz peach vodka
- Ice
Instructions
- Dice two slices of the peach. Place in drinking glass. Cut lime in half and add juice to cup. Use muddler until pretty well incorporated. Add mint leaf and use muddler.
- Fill with ice, add vodka and ginger beer. Mix.
- Optional: add slice of lime and peach
Jalapeno-Mint Mexican Mule

Serves: 1 drink
Ingredients
- 2 sprigs mint
- 3 jalapeno slices
- Ice
- 2oz white tequila
- ½ lime juiced
- Bundaberg Ginger Beer
Instructions
- Muddle mint sprigs and jalapeño slices together in a cocktail shaker.
- Add ice to the shaker, then add white tequila and the juice from half of a lime.
- Shake and strain over ice in a copper mug.
- Top with Bundaberg Ginger Beer
Mezcal Mule

Ingredients
- 1.5oz Mezcal
- 0.75oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 0.75oz Passionfruit Purée
- 0.5oz Agave Nectar
- 3 Cucumber Slices
- Ginger Beer
Instructions
- Add cucumber and lime juice to a shaking tin and muddle.
- Add the remaining ingredients and then add ice, shake and strain into a copper mule mug.
- Top with ginger beer and garnish with a lime wheel.
Green Chile Mule

Ingredients
- 2oz Green Chile Vodka
- 0.5oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 3oz Ginger Beer
Instructions
- Add vodka and lime juice to a shaking tin and then add ice, shake well and strain over ice into a mule mug.
- Top with ginger beer and garnish with a slice of lime and jalapeño and a sprig of cilantro.
Kentucky Mule

Ingredients
- 2oz Bourbon
- 1oz Fresh Lime Juice
- 0.5oz Simple Syrup
- 4oz Ginger Beer
Instructions
- Add all ingredients except ginger beer to a shaking tin and then add ice. Shake and strain into a mule mug filled with ice.
- Top with ginger beer
Add a straw and garnish with a lime wheel, mint and a piece of candied ginger.
